The Wayne Memorial boy’s cross country team competed Saturday in the Marauder Invite at Lake Erie Metro Park hosted by Gibralter Carlson High School. The boys continue their improvement individually and as a team. Despite a sloppy course from the rain on Friday and several of the team fighting through colds, 3 boys set course PRs, 5 set overall PRs, and 1 season PR. Juniors Ke’Waun Stone and Michael Rivera led the Varsity team to a 7th place finish with 182 points with their 16th and 22nd place finishes respectively with times of 17:53.8 and 18:09.0. Sophomore Nico Figueroa was the third finisher for the Zebras in 42nd place with a time of 19:26.4.  Freshman Rene Vasquez broke 20:00 for the first time and moves up to 12th fastest Freshman in Wayne Memorial history with his 50th place finish and a time of 19:53.5. Rounding out the top 7 were senior Juan Rivera in 55th place with 20:33.6, junior Stephen Hansen in 59th with a 21:37.6, and junior Collin Powers in 62nd with a time of 22:17.5.

The JV Team finished 9th with 285 points led by 4 boys finishing within 21 seconds of each other. The top four boys were sophomores Aaron Hill (22:11.5), Brendan Winters (22:25.0), and Owen Westfall (22:32.3) and senior Luis Rivera (22:23.8). The other finishers for Wayne were sophomore Daion Johnson (25:31.5) and Danny Arrellano (28:35.4). 5 JV runners ran overall PRs and 1 ran a season PR.
